- Description
One of Japan's three major Inari shrines, Takamura Ono is believed to have founded this shrine and a new shrine pavilion was built in September 1993. There is a horse museum and monument with Matsuo Basho poems inscribed found in the shrine. Especially notable is Hatsumoude, the New Year's visit to the shrine. And the annual Hatsuuma-taisai-lasting seven days from the first Uma-no-hi in the lunar month of February by the Oriental Zodiac-sees the shrine packed with many visitors from both inside and outside the prefecture.
