1.Oyster Dish(Sendai-shi)
Delicious oyster dishesyen, which includes "oyster pot." Miso paste is added along the inner edges of the earthenware pot, oysters cooked with sake, soy sauce and ginger, fried oysters and butter-sauteed oysters with tomato sauce.


2.Grilled Beef Tongue(Sendai-shi)
Grilled beef tongue is said to have originated in Sendai. Try delicious charcoal-grilled sliced tongue lightly sprinkled with salt.


3.Zunda-Mochi (Rice Cake)(Sendai-shi)
A famous sweet of Miyagi. A paste of boiled green soybeans seasoned with sugar, a dash of salt, soy sauce, sake and sweet sake is spread over rice cakes. Its fine green color treats the eye and the natural aroma of beans arouses happy feelings of nostalgia. July and August are the best time to try this treat.


4.Sendai Zoni New Year's Dish(Sendai-shi)
This New Year's dish is a clear soup made from goby with rice cakes, garnished with assorted vegetables and other ingredients. The dish--a Sendai favorite--has been handed down from generation to generation.


5.Hoya (Sea Pineapple) Dishes(Ishinomaki-shi)
Because of its appearanceyen, hoya is also known as "sea pineapple." It is a bright red color and has a unique smell. First cut the shell into two halves, take out the pouch-like soft meat, remove the guts and then cut it up.


6.Sea urchin bowl(Kesennuma-shi)
Savor a rice bowl with fresh sea urchin harvested from the sea near Sanriku.

This is a proud product with 400 year history in which quality and taste are highly prized.


8.Harako-meshi (Salmon Roe Rice)(Watari-cho)
A rice dish cooked in a special soup using salmon caught in the Abukuma River. First the salmon is boned, skinned and sliced into rectangular pieces. Then it's lightly cooked in a broth of soy sauce and sake and removed from the broth. Next, the salmon roe is cooked in the broth and removed. Finally, rice is cooked in the broth, removed and topped with the salmon and roe. The dish is available from October through December in various locations area-wide, including the Watari-onsen Torinoumi (Tel: 0223-35-2744).
